Appointments
For the convenience of all our patients, we ask that you call ahead to schedule an appointment, whether it is for a checkup or a sick visit. Emergencies will, of course, be seen as soon as possible--but even then, a call ahead always helps us to prepare for your visit.

All patients are encouraged to call with any questions they have on medical problems, and a physician is always available to speak with you. However, the office staff can answer many of your questions and will relay questions they can not answer to your doctor, who will return your call at the earliest opportunity.

Emergencies
In case of a medical emergency outside of normal office hours, please call (804) 740-6171. There will be a message on the answering machine further directing your call. In case of a life threatening emergency, please contact your local hospital, rescue squad or dial 911.

We all work closely with St. Mary’s Hospital, Henrico Doctors’ Hospital and the VCU Medical Center and generally admit our patients to one of these three hospitals.

A physician is always on call for emergencies and can be reached at (804) 740-6171.

Insurance
We participate with most major insurance companies which include but are not limited to: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, MAMSI, Private Healthcare Systems, Southern Health Services, United Healthcare and Virginia Health Network.

If you are a member of an insurance company with which we do not participate, you may submit the receipt given to you at the end of each visit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Our front office staff can assist in answering questions, but you should have a copy of your insurer’s benefits with you when you visit.

If billing or insurance problems arise, our business office can offer you a number of different methods of payment. Please don’t hesitate to call them at (804) 740-2527. Prompt payment, of course, is always appreciated. We also accept all major credit cards.

Referrals
If your insurance company requires a referral or authorization for specialists, lab facilities or emergency room visits, you will need to contact our referral coordinator (804-740-6171).  Please remember the following notice policies: 

• EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS:  Notify us the following business day
• SPECIALIST VISITS:  72 hrs prior notice required
  Please schedule your appointment before calling our office.
• LAB TESTING:  72 hrs prior notice required
• OUT OF AREA:  Contact your insurance company's member services department with the name, address, and phone number of the doctor you will be seeing.

Please note most insurance companies do not allow us to back date referrals.  Therefore, you may be responsible for the full balance of your charges if prior referral/authorization is not obtained.
